Oneonta Pink

On October 29, Oneonta Post Office employees conducted a breast cancer awareness event. Customers were served cake, punch, and other goodies and were asked to purchase breast cancer awareness stamps.

Pictured from left to right are Oneonta employees Roma Cater, Sharon Johnson, Libby McCay, and Tina Smith. Many of the people who work in the Oneonta Post Office have themselves been touched by breast cancer, either directly or through people they love. Severalyears ago, Shirley Brown, a beloved Oneonta carrier, passed away from the disease. Gleni Meade, a now-retired carrier, is a breast cancer survivor, as is Libby McKay's mother.

Employees Willis Kirby (l) and Jeffery Glass are where the real action took place: before the first hour of the event was through, Kirby sold over $50 in Breast Cancer Awareness stamps, which is quite an accomplishment in a town as small as Oneonta.

The final tally for Oneonta's event was that before the day's end, every Breast Cancer Awareness Stamp in the building was sold,  and Oneonta raised over $300 in revenue.
