Welcome to Alabama, Kathryn Sherrill

Kathryn Sherrill is the Alabama District's new Occupational Health Nurse Administrator. She came to us from Greensboro, North Carolina. Her office is located in the medical unit on the second floor of the Birmingham Post Office.

Although you can now connect a face to her name, let's hope that you never have to see her face in person. It's Kathryn's job to deal with non-job-related injuries (restrictions, light duty,
reasonable accommodation, etc.) and all of the accompanying paperwork.

Many years ago, Kathryn started with the Postal Service on the LSM, but her Postal Service career was temporarily inturrupted when she decided to return to school.

An Air Force veteran, she earned her BA in psychology before going on the achieve her MSN in Nursing. She is certified in occupational health and in case management.

When questioned about her career choice, Kathryn jokes, ""I tell people that I became a nurse because it's one of the few careers where I can legally inflict pain."

She resumed her Postal career in 1991. After her husband passed away, she wanted to move to Alabama to be near family, so she applied for and was awarded the job here in Birmingham.

Let's all help Kathryn feel at home in the Alabama District. Postmarks will begin by asking her the question that most transplants receive: Kathryn, Auburn or Alabama?
